A short drive or bike ride from the centre of town is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, which is knee-deep in weasels, moles, badgers & toads – just think of the cast of Wind in the Willows and you’re in the right spot.

The nature reserve backs onto the sea making this area, in our view, the best spot to visit around here. It’s perfect for dogs – they can race around everywhere to their heart’s content.  If you’re on a bike, there are lots of wide paths perfect for riding along, including one that’s around 3 miles long and runs all the way from Rye to Winchelsea.  It’s very flat, meaning you can relax and enjoy walking or riding a bike without having to exert yourself too much and just enjoy looking at the waves and shingle on one side, an open fields full of birds and animals on the other….

Summer or Winter, rain or shine, Rye Harbour is just a really great place to be.
