Rooms 2, 3, 5, 6 & 10 are what we class as a small double.  It means they’re like the standard doubles, only smaller.


Room 2 is the smallest room but also one of the most charming in our opinion. It’s a bit like being in the cabin of an actual Ship! It has wide wooden floorboards, and steps up and down and in and out for you to clamber about in. it has a tiny bathroom with a bath and a shower.

If you’re noise sensitive it’s worth noting you can sometimes hear people in the room next to you.


Room 3 is a small room and has heaps of character with wide wooden painted floorboards. It has a nice view out towards the town and up mermaid street. The bathroom is tiny and has a shower room in this case, no bath.

If you’re travelling with friends then booking rooms 2 and 3 makes sense as they are very close together. If you’re noise sensitive it’s worth noting you can sometimes hear people in the room next to you.


Room 5 is a small, nicely proportioned double room with a shower room, no bath.


Room 6 is a small nicely proportioned double room with a bath and a shower. The room is above the kitchen so it can be a bit noisy in the summertime during service when the fans are running.

ROOM 10:

Room 10 is a small room but really very sweet so if you’re happy to cosy up together it’s a good choice. It has painted wooden floorboards and a large shower. No bath.

Booking Information

The regular rates are £125 for a standard room, and £110 for a small room but at quieter times discounts are available so use the booking system on the site to check prices for the dates you’re looking to visit – the best price will always appear first.

On full rate bookings a £10 discount will be applied if you are traveling solo.

There is a 2 night minimum stay if you’re coming at the weekend.

As is the case with most places in central Rye, The Ship does not have its own car park. There are pay & display car parks very close by so when you arrive if you need some help just pop in and ask someone who looks like they work here to direct you to the nearest one.

Check in is at 3pm but you’re welcome to drop off your bags with us earlier if that helps. If you’re going to a wedding or something and need to check in early just let us know when you book and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

We charge a £10 supplement for an extra bed & breakfast for a child. If however you’re bringing your own cot or your child kips in with you then there’s no extra charge (and they can have breakfast on us).

We charge a £10 supplement if you’re bringing your dog to cover any extra laundry costs / housekeeping. This price also includes a delicious breakfast sausage.
